Victoria wouldn't give up and spent the first two Twilight movies after Bella. After James was killed, however, she swore revenge on Edward Cullen by plotting to kill the woman he loved in New Moon.
As a result, Victoria created an army of newborn vampires to rise up against the Cullens and the werewolves, who were also protecting Bella. But just as things were beginning to heat up for her character's storyline, Lefevre was dropped from the franchise completely and replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard, who went on to star in Black Mirror and the Jurassic World movies.
Prior to her role in the Twilight Saga , Lefevre had worked in various TV shows, though she was mostly cast for minor roles. As for her work on the big screen, she appeared in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as Tuvia, among other projects. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.
Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Despite telling the studio about her plans to take part in another project, the actress found herself booted from the franchise.
However, the studio would not sit idly by and not give their side of things, which paints a different picture about what took place behind the scenes. In a statement, Summit, the studio behind the saga, gave their account of things and why they decided to part ways with Lefevre. Lefevre's statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. With the role of Victoria needing to be filled, the studio soon hired Bryce Dallas Howard to play the character. Summit chose simply to recast the part.
I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. Given the length of filming for Eclipse , never did I fathom I would lose the role over a ten day overlap.
Unfortunately, Summit disagreed with Lefevre's take. As Lefevre continued, "I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part. I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience.
This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I've received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit's surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.
